Kal's Server

    Heya.  If you got the URL on ICQ, you are one of my friends who I want to play on my server.  I have decided to start a private server and have it run 24 hours a day.  Why?  Well I am getting bored with Catskills and I figure this will give me something to do.  I am making this server much more fun than the standard UO servers.  It is going to be kinda like the Abyss shard when it was up on Halloween.  Everyone who plays on the shard gets his or her own castle, can choose 3 skills he or she wants to gm in, and is given the items which the skills require.   Lets put it this way.  If you choose to be a GM mage, GM Archer, and GM Warrior.  You will be given a full spell book and 500 of each reg plus a Heavy Xbow.   No bolts are needed on this server.  They just keep firing out of the bow even though you have none in your inventory.
    Once a week, two teams will be made.  Half of the players on my shard will be on the blue team, and half on the red team.  You are given everything you need.  Each team gets their own keep, and a battlefield will be constructed by me (I'm going to make it out of walls and such).  There will be two keeps, and a battlefield between each.  The object will be to take the deed from the enemy's keep and return it to your own while having your own deed still in your base.  Well that is all I have though of so far.  Maybe a battle where the winning team is the team with the most people alive will be added.

If you are interested in playing on my server, ICQ me back =].  I will add your name to my list and every time the server is up, i'll send you the IP Address and port.   The first time i send you the message, it will also have the username and password which i have made for you.  There is a program called FuseRun which will connect you to a private server easily.  If you do not have FuseRun, read my little tutorial =P.

Ok I'm not the best at writing this kinda stuff so just try to understand this =]

Step 1: Go into MS-Dos prompt (If you don't have the icon for some reason, simply click on the Start button, then run, then type in "\command.com")

Step 2: Go into your UO Folder.  (Since you are in DOS, you'd have to type the following:
a.   cd..  (Gets you to the root level which should be C:\)

b.   {drive letter}:   (If you see 'C:\' but your UO is on your D: drive, you'd type 'D:' and hit enter to switch drives.)

c.  cd {name of uo folder}  (Type 'cd' then the name of your UO folder.   An example would be 'cd uo'.  Doesn't get much easier than that.  If you are in the UO folder, you should see a prompt which looks like this: 'C:\UO\'.  If you are on your D drive it'll say 'D:\UO\', and so on.)

[Ok.  Don't type in the A, B, or C.  Those letters were just to indicate the different steps.]

Step 3: Now that you are in your UO folder, you will need to type a new set of commands (luck you).  Type in the following.

a.  ren login.cfg login.cf1 (Renames your login.cfg file to login.cf1)

b.  edit login.cfg (Ok.  You should now have a blue screen in front of you.   There should be no text in this blue screen.  Simply type in the following:

LoginServer=0.0.0.0,4500

Ok.  Let me explain what is above.  (And no that comma is not supposed to be a period)  Well you type exactly what is up there.  The 0.0.0.0 should be replaced with the IP address i give you.  Leave the ',4500' alone at the end because that specifies the port #.  Don't touch that part.

Step 4: When you finish this, click on the 'File' button which is in the top left corner of the screen.  Then click on 'Exit'.  You will be asked if you want to save your work.  Click on 'yes' and you should be back in DOS.  Once you have done all of this, type "exit" to close the MS-Dos prompt window.

Step 5: Run UO as usual.  Your usual username and password isn't going to work.   You are connected to my server now, not Origin's.  You do not need to be a paying member to Origin to play on my server =].  So anyways, enter the username and password which i messaged you with and there you go.  Create a character.

Step 6: When you finish playing on my server and want to go back to your old server, go into your UO folder and delete Login.cfg.  Then rename Login.cf1 back to login.cfg and your all done =].  This may seem like a lot but after you do it once, you'll realize it is very simple and easy to remember.

Note:  I recommend you start your character at Lord Blackthorne's castle.   This is a very small server and if everyone hangs around in one town, it'll be more fun that way.
